Lingua villosa nigra

Lingua villosa Nigra or hairy tongue is a condition attributed to poor oral hygiene characterized by elongation and hypertrophy of filiform papillae. It results from abnormal desquamation of filiform papillae. The discolouration maybe due to secondary infection with porphyrin-producing chromogenic bacteria.
