
Rovsing's sign is a classic clinical indicator for acute appendicitis, present when pressing on the left lower abdomen (left iliac fossa) causes pain in the right lower abdomen (right iliac fossa), indicating inflammation of the appendix. It works by pushing contents back towards the cecum, irritating the inflamed appendix, or by stretching the inflamed peritoneum. A positive sign suggests peritoneal irritation, strongly pointing towards appendicitis.
