Cord Prolapse

Cord Prolapse

Umbilical cord prolapse is a rare, life-threatening obstetric emergency occurring when the cord drops through the cervix into the vagina ahead of the baby after membranes rupture, causing compression and restricted fetal oxygen. It requires immediate emergency delivery, usually via Cesarean section, to prevent fatal hypoxia.
