What are the common causes of conductive and sensorineural hearing loss?
Conductive hearing loss occurs when sound cannot be transmitted through the ear cannal examination Rinne’s test shows bone conduction more than air conduction and weber is lateralized towards abnormal ear. Causes of the loss include: ear infections, ear wax, foreign body, perforated ear drum, allergies, osteosclerosis and tumors. In sensorineural hearing loss nerve conduction is abnormal. The Rinne's test shows air conduction is more than bone conduction and weber is lateralized towards normal ear. The causes include: increased age more then 50, side effect of a medicine, trauma by loud noise, head trauma, genetic defects and caused as a symptom of other diseases.
