What are complications of colon cancer?
A cancer arising from epithelium of large bowel is called colorectal cancer. Histologically it can be divided into 2 types: squamous carcinomas or adenocarcinomas. Most of the cancers are adenocarcinomas. The condition presents as anemia, weight loss, altered bowel habits, abdominal pain, melena or tenesmus. If the disease has metastised it may present with symptoms of other system involvement like jaundice, ascites or recurrent infections. The disease may present with its complications like: bowel obstruction, iron deficiency anemia, bleeding, colovesical fistula or metastasis.
