A patient can present with backache, limb weakness, abnormal lower limb sensations, abnormal sphincter reflexes or bilateral leg claudication in conditions like cauda equina or cord compression. Cord compression is the condition in which a mass exerts compression on spinal cord. Cauda equina syndrome is condition in which the bundles of nerves below the end of spinal cord is damaged. Causes of the conditions include: disc protrusion, cancer, bone metastasis, myeloma, cord tumor, infections such as T.B or an abscess.
