Which medications are used in the treatment of group A streptococcal upper respiratory tract infection (URI)?
Treatment of Group A Streptococcal Upper Respiratory Infection • Oral amoxicillin or penicillin for 10 days (if the patient is not allergic to penicillin) • Single IM of benzathine penicillin G (in case of medication compliance) • First-generation cephalosporin (if the patient has non-anaphylactic penicillin allergy) • Clindamycin/clarithromycin for 10 days or azirthromycin for 5 days (if the patient is allergic to penicillin)
