This patient was involved in a car crash after he fell asleep at the wheel and hit a fence.Luckily he survived after a 5cm-wide metal pole from that fence impaled him through his mouth and out the back of his head. The medical team at the scene was able to remove the pole without damaging either of two major blood vessels — the carotid artery and jugular vein — running close-by in his neck region. He made a full recovery with no paralysis!
