Maxillary first premolar roots

Maxillary first premolar roots

The upper first premolar typically has two roots, a buccal root and a palatal root, which often bifurcate (split apart) near the cervical area, meaning it is most commonly a "bi-rooted" tooth; however, variations exist where it may have a single fused root or even three roots in some cases; the root canals within these roots usually also number two, corresponding to the number of roots present.
