As long as it is properly controlled I see no issue with it. Why make people suffer needlessly if they are going to die anyway? Give them some dignity and empower them to leave on their own terms, rather than 'lose' to their illness
Either way they're going to feel some level of guilt for not being able to do more for their patient, and I think euthanasia can at least ease their mind knowing the individual died in peace, rather than forcing the doctor to watch their patient suffer until the end
I'm working as a healthcare assistant until I get into med school, and currently I'm in a mental health hospital. One thing I do not agree with at all is restraining patients - I hate doing it, my conscious is heavy for days after, and it makes me feel incredibly guilty. But at the same time, if I don't help restrain patients when they get violent, I'm putting 20+ people at risk of being hurt - or I'm putting the patient at risk of being restrained incorrectly by someone who may not be confident with restraining which can have dire consequences. This is a situation where my duty of care to my patients precedes whatever my personal views are
Its tough topic still.. but what if there are people who needs this place more than the taker who cant even breathe for itself? Hospital has limited space. Also you would not perform an euthanasia if family would not agree. In eutanasia not one person is a killer but whole team..
