Autopsy of Cancer Patient

Autopsy of Cancer Patient

While it's not as flashy as forensics, murder, or medical mysteries, cancer weighs heavily on heart. I recently had a friend die from the sequelae of cancer treatment. He was a tesla employee, musician, and photographer who died at age 53, just as he was preparing to retire from working long 12+ hour days for elonmusk to focus on teaching photography. They told him the tumor was treatable and that he could be cancer free in months. But then radiation therapy destroyed the tissue in his neck and he bled to death. This was at one of the top cancer centers in the world. Thousands of stories like his happen every day. In fact, cancer continues to kill more people in the US annually than COVID-19 (search the numbers). It's a serious problem that will absolutely impact you or your loved ones one day. No one is immune, not even the wealthy or powerful. And, like all diseases, the marginalized and poor are impacted even more. Instead of suffering for years like the wealthy, they die within months, something that could almost be considered merciful in light of currently available treatments. The suffering caused by current therapy modalities is too immense to be meaured and is often worse than the disease itself. But we don't have any better treatments. We have to do things radically different in order to combat cancer, and we can...if we fund the right research. The patient pictured died of liposarcoma, an insidious disease that requires surgery after surgery coupled with radiation to remove and reduce tumors that will only continue to grow back. Bloated, fluid filled, and weakened, patients eventually succumb to the burden of large tumors encasing their abdominal viscera. Observe the dark purple color of the abdominal viscera. This is due to underlying massive cystic tumors. She was in her 50s. There is no cure for this disease. By: https://www.instagram.com/p/Cgps_Y7pfVM/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
