Candida is a part of normal flora of the skin, however, in babies, candida can overgrow to cause candidiasis. This condition is known as monilial diaper rash. The rashes are painful. These are associated with formation of blisters in the areas covered by diaper. The blisters rupture and cause ulceration. Swollen spots with scaly outer layer are also noticed. It is imperative to keep the skin clean and dry. Diaper rash cream is used to treat candidiasis. In severe cases, antifungal agents are used.
