Anencephaly; the absence of a major portion of the brain, skull, and scalp that occurs during embryonic development. It is a cephalic disorder that results from a neural tube defect that occurs when the rostral (head) end of the neural tube fails to close, usually between the 23rd and 26th day following conception.

It is a cephalic disorder that results from a neural tube defect that occurs when the rostral (head) end of the neural tube fails to close, usually between the 23rd and 26th day following conception. It does not have standard medical care buy often involves management. This baby also has Harlequin ichthyosis; a rare skin disease that causes the skin to grow in diamond-shaped plates. If she only the latter condition, it could be treated with a drug(etretinate), but with the anencephaly, I'm afraid she won't survive it any long...
