The prognosis of avian influenza depends upon the duration and degree of hypoxemia in the affected individual. In mild to moderate cases, the flu is managed and the patient returns to healthy state. However, in critical cases the hypoxemia worsens which is difficult to manage. Hence, critical conditions lead to severe complications.
