Coccydynia refers to the pain in the tailbone. The common causes of coccydynia are: - Childbirth It is one of the most common causes. Overstretching of ligaments and muscles during childbirth can result in persistent pain. - Trauma Falling backward or hard impact during sports or accidents can cause pain in tailbone. - Repetitive Strain Injury Any activity that can put tailbone under constant stress can result in coccydynia.
