What are the treatment options for chronic hepatitis B?
An infection with hepatitis B virus is a common infection faced in clinical settings. It is spread by coming in contact with blood or body fluids of an infected person. It has a vertical transmission as well. Primary infection with the disease can pass without or mild infection. Mild symptoms may show after 1 or 6 months post exposure. Treatment options for the conditions include: 1) pegylated interferon therapy. It has no resistance but has many side effects. 2) Nucleoside and nucleotide analogues are also available. It includes: Lamivudine, Entecavir, and tenofovir. These are potent and have fewer side effects but risk of resistance is present.
If this patient only HBV you can use tenofovir or entekovir or other analogs. But you must see DNA replication. Please check samford, idsa or cdc guedlines
