Hepatitis B Serology

Hepatitis B is one of the most common causes of hepatocellular carcinoma. The acute infection can be asymptomatic. However, the infection can be chronic. Number of antibodies and antigens are detected in the serum in case of hepatitis B. Taking into consideration the titers and the type of antigen / antibody, acute and chronic infections as well as the vaccination status can be distinguished.
