1)Provides a connection between "internal iliac" and "femoral arteries" 2)Lies near trochanteric fossa 3)Formed by DESCENDING BRANCHES OF SUPERIOR AND INFERIOR GLUTEAL ARTERIES (which in turn are branches of "internal iliac artery") ASCENDING BRANCHES OF MEDIAL AND LATERAL CIRCUMFLEX FEMORAL ARTERIES (which in turn are branches of "femoral artery") Why is this important??? Its main purpose is to maintain blood supply to head of femur In healthy people it is not super important as most of the femoral head is supplied by medial circumflex femoral artery BUT if there is a gradual occlusion of medial circumflex femoral artery the superior and inferior gluteal arteries can compensate...
