Anatomy of Oral Cavity

Anatomy of Oral Cavity

The oral cavity, or mouth, is the initial part of the digestive system and also plays a role in respiration and speech. It includes the lips, teeth, gums, tongue, hard and soft palate, and the floor of the mouth. The oral cavity is divided into the vestibule (the space between the cheeks/lips and teeth/gums) and the oral cavity proper (the area behind the teeth and gums).
