Cranial Nerves - Brainstem

Cranial Nerves - Brainstem

Let’s take a look at this Brainstem location! ⁣ ⁣ (Cranial Nerves 1 (Olfactory) & 2 (Optic), Brainstem: Midbrain & Spinal Cord are not shown) ⁣ ⁣ The Pontomedullary junction is a great place to know as a landmark for some of the anatomical locations of the Cranial Nerves. It is the angle between the lower border of the pons and the superior border of the medulla. ⁣ Notable Nerve originations! ⁣ ⁣ CEREBRUM⁣ *Cranial nerve 1: Olfactory ⁣ *Cranial nerve 2: Optic⁣ ⁣ MIDBRAIN⁣ *Cranial nerve 3: Oculomotor ⁣ *Cranial nerve 4: Trochlear ⁣ ⁣ PONS⁣ *Cranial nerve 5: Trigeminal - lateral aspect of mid pons⁣ *Cranial nerve 6: Abducens – pontomedullary junction, close to the midline⁣ *Cranial nerve 7: Facial – cerebellopontine angle (not shown), the more lateral aspect of the pontomedullary junction.⁣ *Cranial nerve 8: Vestibulocochlear – laterally to the facial nerve.⁣ ⁣ MEDULLA OBLONGATA⁣ *Cranial nerve 9: Vestibulocochlear⁣ *Cranial nerve 10: Vagus⁣ *Cranial nerve 11: Spinal Accessory ⁣ *Cranial nerve 12: Hypoglossal⁣ ⁣ We have a great new video on ‘12 Cranial Nerves’ Visit our channel!
