Trendelenburg Gait

Trendelenburg gait is an abnormal walking pattern characterized by a drop in the pelvis on the side opposite the weak hip abductor muscles. This occurs because the muscles responsible for stabilizing the pelvis while standing on one leg (gluteus medius and minimus) are weak or ineffective. The person compensates by tilting their trunk away from the affected hip to maintain balance.
