Frictional Keratosis

Frictional Keratosis

. There is a rough, hyperkeratotic change to the posterior mandibular alveolar ridge (“alveolar ridge keratosis”), because this area is now edentulous and becomes traumatized from mastication. Such frictional keratoses should resolve when the source of irritation is eliminated and should not be mistaken for true leukoplakia.
