Roll in orthodontics

Rotation of esthetic line of dentition around horizontal axis, up or down on right or left side, is best described as roll. To evaluate roll relative to soft tissues, intercommissure line is best reference; to evaluate it relative to facial skeleton, interocular line is usual reference.
