Video footage of surgical resection of a large brain tumor in a lady who presented with seizure of new onset and progressive weakness in the right side of her body. Case presentation by Dr. Farhad Limonadi MD, director of neurosurgery at Eisenhower Medical Center. Edited by Camus Yu
Will that duramater artificially made ....could cause some infection orelse irritation to the brain further...?
I’d be highly surprised. It’s completely sterile. As the commenter above me said unless they’re allergic to silicone then no. After brain surgery (or any surgery for that matter) you have an increased risk of getting an infection or bacterial infection. In this case bacterial meningitis would be the most likely.
The dura is sterile so there is little chance of it being the cause of infection. Medical grade silicone is pretty inert....I suppose its likely that a person could be allergic but rare😷☺
Well done video! Always amazes me how big these tumors can grow before the patient is symptomatic!
Beautiful Job! This is the perfect combination between art & science
