Uterine fibroids lined up from the biggest to smallest! These fibriod masses weighed 4.7kg and was found in a middle aged woman. She had the fibroid for 16 years and had taken several herbal concoctions and had been told that it will be dissolved, which wasnβt quite the case. Fibroids are also called leiomyomas. The pathogenesis is characterized by benign smooth muscle neoplasm. They can occur in any organ, but the most common forms occur in the uterus, small bowel and the esophagus. They are benign, but may lead to excessive menstrual bleeding (menorrhagia), often cause anemia and may lead to infertility. A fibroid uterus is typically firm and irregularly enlarged. Enucleation is removal of fibroids without removing the uterus (hysterectomy), which was the surgery that took place in the case above. Photo by @jebzmanchini
