Cercarial Dermatitis

Cercarial Dermatitis

Cercarial dermatitis is a dermatological manifestation of penetration of skin by a parasite called schistosome. The skin lesions undergo two stages. During the first stage, the rash is urticarial in nature, and it is accompanied by prickling sensation. Macule and papules are seen. During the late phase, the lesions may be excoriated. Areas covered by clothing are spared.
