Schistosomiasis is also known as snail fever, katayama fever, and bilharzia. The causative agent is schistosome. This parasite spreads through freshwater contact. The patient may present with pain in abdomen, blood in stools, diarrhea, and hematuria. Cercarial rash may also be present. Ascites may develop later.
