Abdominal adhesions Abdominal adhesions are firm, fibrotic and scar-like bands and tissues inside the abdominal cavity. These adhesions form between two organs causing their surfaces to adhere to each other. Normally, organs do not adhere to each other and they free when the body moves. However, abdominal adhesions stick them with each other. This condition is commonly observed after abdominal surgery. Usually, this condition is asymptomatic and does not require any treatment. In some cases, it may present with pain and constipation. Surgery is the only treatment.
