Treatment of Abdominal Adhesions and Intestinal Obstruction Abdominal adhesions and intestinal obstruction do not present with symptoms therefore they don’t need treatment. Initially, they are managed with IV fluids and nasogastric tube to remove gastric content over the obstruction. Another surgery is likely to produce more abdominal adhesions. However, if abdominal adhesion is painful and affects fertility then surgery is the last option. Intestinal obstruction, if partial, is manageable with medicines. However, complete obstruction requires surgery.
