Diagnosis of Abdominal Pain Abdominal pain is diagnosed by following a series of questions to rule out any possibility. The questions include; • What is the exact site of pain? • When was the onset of pain? • When does the pain usually begin? • What is the character of pain? • Is the pain radiating somewhere? • Does your pain relieve with something? • Does your pain worsen with something? • Is it associated with something such as eating or drinking something and any known disease? As the patient answers every question, more questions are asked to achieve a direction for diagnosis.
