Lead-based paints, or simply lead paints, contain lead. There are three forms of lead which are paint additives; lead II chromate (chrome yellow), lead II, IV oxide (red lead), and lead II carbonate (white lead). Lead modifies the nature of paint. It improves drying pace, durability, prevents corrosion and reflects fresh appearance for years. Despite the purpose-friendly properties, lead-based paints were banned in 1978 for healthcare drawbacks especially in households. Lead-free paints replaced lead-based paints.
