Why is lead paint an important source of human exposure?
Lead paints were an important source of human exposure to lead because they were used for painting residential and commercial properties. Lead-based paints have gradual but severe impact on humans who live in a property with lead paints on walls and ceilings. It is especially harmful for children who touch walls and later put their fingers in mouth. They peel off paint flakes and put them in mouth too. Over years, when the paint weakens and corrodes the dust on walls contain lead which the residents inhale. Moreover, when the houses with lead paints are refurnished or remodeled the dust in debris is injurious to health. Gradually, the repercussions develop.
