Attributed to the efficacious vaccination campaigns and infection control, small pox has been eradicated from the world. The last reported case of small pox was in 1977 in Somalia. Small pox was a febrile illness; chills, headache, lethargy, abdominal pain and discomfort, and vomiting were the common symptoms. After the recovery from prodromal symptoms, a rash used to appear which started on face and spread to lower body. This state was considered extremely contagious. The rash used to transform into abscess and scabs; these used to resolve by leaving scars.
