What should you document in the patient's notes after insertion of a nasogastric tube?
Nasogastric tube usage is a common hospital procedure done for multiple issues be it diagnostic or therapeutic. Like every medical procedure it requires good clinical documentation as well. The common requirements include signing of a consent form for the tube placement, length of the tube inserted to access the abdominal cavity, if any complications were faced while insertion, pH of aspirated fluid checked clinically and x-ray confirmation if required and done.
