Nasogastric tube or NG tube is a tube synthesized from plastic or silicon. It is inserted through nasal opening to access gastric cavity. The purpose of this tube insertion is to provide patient with nutrition. The indication of placing a nasogastric are: 1) malnourished or patients at risk of malnutrition 2) in patients with functional and accessible gastrointestinal tract that is patients cannot consume adequate amount to absorb nutrients. Absolute contraindication of nasogastric tube insertion is: mid face trauma and nasal surgery.
