Lichtenberg Figures

Lichtenberg Figures

A lightning bolt can heat up the surrounding air to 50,000 degrees Fahrenheit. More than 90% of those struck by lightning survive. Blood vessels bursting from the electric discharge and heat might create fern-like patterns called a Lichtenberg figure on the skin. Mostly these marks are not permanent and disappear in a couple of days. Image via: https://www.instagram.com/p/CIB9TU-BG9K/?igshid=gan90wt6cl2
