This is the incredible story of Paul Alexander. Paul is a polio survivor who spends everyday in an iron lung, a device from the early 1900's which keeps him alive. Not only has he gone on to do great things, his outlook on life inspiring.
I remember the fear of “infantile paralysis” back in the 40s and 50s. We lived in a very rural area so our lives weren't as affected as those living in cities. Later, in the Army, I received the injectable vaccine and was thankful for it. Later I learned about the iron lungs that were still in use in hospitals and the miserable lives of those that we're confined to them. Thank G-d for that vaccine.
