Astigmatism is a commonly occurring eye problem. In this condition, the cornea becomes irregular which affects the way light passes through it and reaches retina. The cause of Astigmatism is unclear. In most of the people with Astigmatism, the error is observed since birth which proves genetics as big factor. However, many people develop this condition later in life. Eye injury and eye surgery also cause Astigmatism. The symptoms of Astigmatism are - Blurry vision - Irritation in eye - Distorted vision - Headache - Pain and discomfort in eye especially when focusing on something to read from paper or computer for long periods - Excessive squinting - Difficulty in driving at night Astigmatism is diagnosed by - Visual Acuity Assessment Test - Refraction Test - Keratometry - Corneal Topograpy The treatment of Astigmatism is - Corrective eye glasses - Orthokeratology - Contact lenses - Refractive surgery -
