EDWARDS' SYNDROME

Edward syndrome (trisomy 18) is a genetic defect caused by an additional part of 18th chromosome.It is the second most common trisomy type of syndrome after trisomy 21. Babies with trisomy 18 are small and frail. They typically have serious health problems and physical defects including cleft palate,Defects of heart, Lungs and kidneys,clenched fists with overlapping fingers, low set ears etc.Sadly, only 13 in 100 babies are born alive with Edward's syndrome will live past their 1st birthday.
