Tarsal tunnel - An easy way to remember its contents!

Tarsal tunnel - An easy way to remember its contents!

Tarsal tunnel is formed on the posteromedial side of the ankle by a depression formed between the medial malleolus of tibia, posteromedial surface of talus, medial surface of calcaneus and inferior surface of sustentaculum tali of calcaneus. An overlying flexor retinaculum converts the depression into the tarsal tunnel. The retinaculum attaches to the medial malleolus and medial inferomedial side of calcaneus. The contents of the tunnel can be easily remember by the followimg mnemonic: Tom Dick and A Nervous Harry T- tendon of Tibialis posterior D- tendon of flexor Digitorum longus A- posterior tibial Artery N- tibial Nerve H- tendon of flexor Hallucis longus Image via: https://images.app.goo.gl/yFchvZ4cQCo6Gjsw8
