Polycythemia Vera (PV)

Correction: I made a mistake in this video...In CML, there is actually increased basophils (not neutrophils, which was a mistake). Polycythemia vera (aka P. Vera) is one of the myeloproliferative disorders (all cell lines are increased especially red blood cells). JAK 2 kinase mutation is present in more than 90% of patients. Itching after hot showers 🚿 or baths 🛁 is a common complaint (probably due to histamine release). Splenomegaly and gouty arthritis may be present as well. Symptoms of hyperviscosity syndrome are common.
