Coronary arteries are the ones which supply our heart , the muscular organ pumping the blood to the entire body. Even though all of our tissues receive the blood during the systole of our heart, the latter itself recieves blood during it's diastole. Even though the branches of the coronary arteries anastomose with each other ( for eg: at the CRUX of the heart) they are the functional end arteries which cannot compensate for the other artery in the case of Thrombosis. In many cases atherosclerosis may occur at the coronary arteries which causes blockage of these arteries causing sudden death. Angioplasty is the commonest technique in which small stent is passed through artery like femoral artery to remove the blockage.
