📌THE VAGINA ⏺The vagina is a expandable fibromuscular tube which extends from the introitus (external vagina orifice) to the middle cervix. It extends postero-superiorly ⏺Length 👉7-10cm ⏺Significant Of The Vagina 👉Serves as a canal for menstrual flow 👉Receives the penis and ejaculation during sexual intercourse 👉Also serve as an inferior part of the birth canal. ⏺Relations of the Vagina 👉Anteriorly; by the bladder and urethra 👉Posteriorly; Rectum, Anal Canal, Perineal body and rectro-uterine pouch of Douglas 👉Laterally; by the levator Ani (Puboccocygens and Illiococcygens) Ureter and pelvic fascia ⏺Nerve Supply 👉perineal and labia branch of pudendal nerve 👉ilio-inguinal nerve ⏺Arterial supply 👉uterine artery 👉Internal pudendal artery 👉middle rectal artery 👉inferior vesical artery 👉vagina branch of the internal iliac artery ⏺venous drainage 👉Uterine veins which drains into internal iliac vein Note: The Lower part of the vagina is more sensitive than the upper part.
