A boy whose skull was pierced with an arrow during archery training has made a full recovery after a lengthy operation. He stepped into the "No Entry Zone" during his weekly archery practice and was struck by a flying arrow. The arrow pierced the skull on the right side in the parietal region and exited on the left side through the parenchyma, which is the frontal lobe and in very close proximity to all-important structures. The arrow and debris was successfully removed from the brain tissue with an endoscope. Since his post-operative recovery showed good signs, there is hope that he would not have any neurological deficiency, memory or personality problems. He is also planning on returning to his archery club next month – but this time with a lot more caution.
