This is one of the first and most common autopsy findings. Burns of skin or other tissue are caused by fire, radiant heat, radiation, chemical, or electrical contact.Such findings help in the determination of the manner of death. The intensive heat and light emitted from electrical explosions cause severe burns, destroying skin and tissue. Victims sometimes require skin grafts or amputations but death is more likely with increased severity of burns, the body percent area affected and age of the individual.
