A full-term infant is 3 days old. On the different parts of skin there are erythemas, erosive spots, cracks, areas of epidermis peeling. The infant has scalded skin syndrome. Nikolskys symptom is positive. General condition of the infant is grave. Anxiety, hyperesthesia, febrile temperature are evident.
Nikolsky's sign is almost always present in Stevens-Johnson Syndrome/toxic epidermal necrolysis and Staphylococcal scalded skin syndrome, caused by the exfoliative toxin of Staphylococcus aureus. It is also associated with pemphigus vulgaris and pemphigus foliaceus. According to me Antibiotics depending upon the exact cause and making sure the skin is always clean is the first line of treatment.
