Bones of the Cranial Base - Color Coded

Bones of the cranium, easy to follow with colors & locations ⁣ Frontal bone forms the front of the skull and is divided into three parts⁣ *Squamous⁣ *Orbital⁣ *Nasal⁣ ⁣ Ethmoid bone is a small bone in the skull that separates the nasal cavity from the brain. Located at the roof of the nose and between the two orbits.⁣ ⁣ Sphenoid bone is in the middle of the skull towards the front and forms the rear of the orbit. Its the butterfly of the skull, because of its wing-like processes. ⁣ Divided into several parts⁣ *Body of the bone⁣ *Two greater wings, two lesser wings⁣ *Pterygoid processes⁣ ⁣ Temporal bones are on the sides, lateral to the temporal lobes of the brain. ⁣ Consist of four regions⁣ *squamous, mastoid, petrous and tympanic regions ⁣ @rev.med⁣ ⁣ Parietal bones are connected and make up part of the roof and sides of the skull. ⁣ *Attachment of the two bones form the sagittal suture ⁣ *In the front, the parietal bones form the coronal suture with the frontal bone⁣ *In the rear, the lambdoid suture is formed by the occipital bone⁣ *The squamosal suture separates the parietal and temporal bones⁣ ⁣ Occipital bone forms the base of the skull at the rear of the cranium.
