Lap splenectomy in a trauma patient needing prolonged urgent orthopaedic surgery in prone position

After abdominal blunt trauma and multiple fractures of lower limbs and spine, CT scan showed a splenic injury (grade IV AAST) with multiple blushes; furthermore, she had multiple open fractures which needed prolonged urgent orthopaedic surgery in prone position. In this case, before orthopaedic procedures, laparoscopic splenectomy was indicated and active spleen bleeding was demonstrated during the procedure.
