Principles of flap design

(A) To have sufficient access to root of second premolar, the envelope flap should extend anteriorly, mesial to the canine, and posteriorly, distal to the first molar. (B) If a releasing incision (i.e., three-cornered flap) is used, the flap extends mesial to the first premolar.
