Incision and Drainage (I&D) , i haven't come across any literature about age affecting tx of an abscess yet, have you ? If yes Please share :)

@prabesh paudel Yes, I have done I&Ds before, I don't think you quite Understood my question, let me rephrase : I&D is the tx of choice for an abscess but your question on the post suggests Age might somehow be an Indication for a different choice of tx, is this what you are implying in your question ? If yes then Please share the literature/source of this information,  this is what i meant earlier.

Abscess- must never be squeezed at home or hospitals without a proper incision. 1st- examining the area and look for the size , if its 1cms or half a inch hot compresses have proven to be beneficial but if it progresses i would worry a little and if on top of that fever arises u must consult a doctor. If your surgery is scheduled you will visit the O.T. The surgeons will 1st Betadine wash the area and then give an incision along the Langers line(for cosmetic purposes) and after draining the abscess packing must be kept to continuously drain the pus inside the abscess cavity and a bandage is applied over and the patient is sent home with some antibiotics prescription and with the suggestion of follow ups .
